Navigating the diverse branches of public speaking can be overwhelming, especially when it feels like the available resources don’t resonate with you. I’ve searched extensively online and heard numerous complaints about the lack of effective training for aspiring public speakers.

Many individuals express their frustrations:
“No one can find me a solution to help with the debilitating nerves I face before speaking in front of a crowd.”

This sentiment is particularly prevalent among women who often feel unheard, unseen, or undervalued in their workplaces. Many struggle to voice their opinions in meetings, present their ideas confidently, or gain the respect they deserve in their roles.

Recently, I’ve noticed an increase in female clients seeking public speaking solutions. So, when I met Lucy Day at a networking event, it was a natural fit for us to join forces. Together, we envisioned a workshop called “Communicate With Confidence – for women” As a communication expert who empowers leaders in the workplace, Lucy focuses on addressing emotional barriers and performance anxiety, while I bring a physical understanding of vocal control to the table.

Through my research, I realized there is a significant gap in teaching speakers how their voices function and how to rely on them from a physical standpoint. As a singer, mastering stage presence, overcoming performance anxiety, and communicating clearly with an audience are essential skills, and I was thrilled at the prospect of transferring these abilities to public speaking.

I can provide clients with techniques for volume and projection, tips on using pitch to maintain interest, guidance on rhythm and phrasing, and strategies for breath control to enhance vocal quality.

One of the most effective tools for both speakers and singers is breathing exercises. Not only do they help control your voice and prevent strain, but they also prepare your nervous system to mitigate the fight-or-flight response.

By blending in-depth research with the insights gained from my singers and speakers, we can share valuable strategies to help others conquer performance anxiety. If these techniques have worked for so many, they can certainly empower you as well.
